For the past few years we’ve been peeking in with hopeful looks at Nexus Forever, the rogue server project for WildStar that we first heard about in 2019. The emulation project has been pretty slow going and has warned fans that it’s “not a full-featured experience,” but writers and readers both have held out hope for more all the same in order to perhaps return to this beloved MMO.
For a certain stripe of player, that dream may be more of a reality thanks to the Genesis Prime rogue server, a fan project that has forked from the Nexus Forever project in order to give a roleplayer home for fans of WildStar. The rogue server first opened its doors in February 2019, but its community has been a part of Discord and Enjin for some time beforehand.
“We stand (and roleplay) on the shoulders of giants,” the server’s informational page states. “Not only is the original WildStar game a work of art which has captured our imaginations, but the work being done to restore the game has been nothing less than phenomenal. Genesis Prime owes a debt to the efforts of many devoted fans around the world.”
The rogue server affords roleplayers full character creation including items that were never released, completely unlocked and functional housing that also has custom items, access to custom emotes and transformations, and available social features like guilds and circles. Open exploration is also possible on the server, including the ability to teleport anywhere in the game world and even outside of its boundaries. Combat and quests aren’t available yet but are planned for sometime later.
For those who are interested in joining the community and the server, there are some required steps to take in order to access both, but if you really miss WildStar and its roleplay, then these will hardly feel like obtrusive hoops to jump through.
