MMOs You’ve Never Heard Of: Wildmender, Kaetram, and Kingdom the Blood

Welcome back to another quick roundup of MMOs and MMO-adjacent multiplayer titles you’ve (probably) never heard of! This time around we’re checking out an intriguing-looking survival title, another 2-D browser MMORPG (seriously these things are like grass), and a co-op title based off of a Korean TV series. It’s a mish-mash, in other words, so let’s dig in!

Wildmender: This one might have crossed your notice if you like survivalboxes on Steam; it’s a co-operative “desert gardening survival game” for up to four players that tasks them with scouring a vast desert for plants, bringing them back to their base, and cultivating them in order to help life flourish in the otherwise barren waste. Along the way, players can learn about a long-lost civilization, unlock perks, and befriend critters. It also looks charming as heck.

Kaetram: This one’s the sprite browser MMORPG that started life as an open source fork of BrowserQuest but has since been expanded on. The game is still open source and developer OmniaDev says it’s always willing to take on pixel artists, composers, and programmers, while the game itself is a fully playable and functional thing right now. The dev has also stated on Discord his intentions to release on mobile and Steam, as well as an “upcoming derivative” version of the MMO for crypto and web3 speculators, though word on that – or any of its plans – hasn’t been shared since September.

Kingdom: The Blood: Finally, we close out with a co-op title based on the Korean series of the same name that aired on Netflix. Publisher/developer ACTION SQUARE promises that the co-op action RPG brings the “beauty of traditional Korea” as well as a custom battle system and hordes of enemies to gleefully slaughter. It also offers boss fight modes and one-on-one PvP, while clearing the single-player campaign opens up a new mode with “completely different gameplay.” A release date has not been confirmed.
