[We’re updating with the highlights below, including the New World info!]

Gamescom 2021 is officially kicking off today as a free virtual event as the pandemic drags on. The Geoff Keighley-helmed opening night live event for the show is promising a slew of non-MMORPG titles – “Call of Duty: Vanguard, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, DEATH STRANDING: Director’s Cut, Far Cry 6, Saints Row, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, SIFU, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania” – but we have reason to suspect there will be a few multiplayer surprises in there (*wink*), and we’ll be updating this piece with them as the MMOsy news we care about rolls along. In the meantime, you can watch it with us; the main event begins at 2 p.m. EDT.

Notable stuff
Halo Infinite dropped the trailer that serves as the intro to the multiplayer season. The campaign and multiplayer PvP launch together on December 8th. As we’ve previously noted, that won’t include co-op PvE, which has been delayed.

Ubisoft’s Riders Republic got a new trailer celebrating the beta that is already running through August 28th – and yes, everyone can play on PC and console right now. Yes, even you. Launch is October 28th.

Pearl Abyss posted gameplay video from DokeV! We’ve gotten so very little from this game ever since the studio announced it, but it looks sharp.

Amazon dropped a new New World trailer; Amazon’s Scot Lane reiterates that the beta will be open to the public starting September 9th and that Amazon is focused on post-launch content. “Launch is really the beginning – it’s day one,” he says, and while he doesn’t get too specific, he says the studio is listening to players asking for more supernatural and group content, along with holiday plans.

“Today, Amazon Games confirmed the New World open beta will run from September 9-12, giving players a chance to explore the mysterious island of Aeternum ahead of the game’s launch on September 28.”

Valheim announced that Hearth & Home is launching September 16th.
